“Why should I hire you” is a common question during interview. It can take you down the wrong road unless you have done some thinking ahead of time. Every company or organisation has an expectation for the type of person when it comes to the position they are interviewing for. They are expected to have certain qualities that the organisation believes in or put a lot of emphasis on.
When an interviewer is asks you, “Why should I hire you?”, it means that the interviewer is giving you an opportunity to sell yourself. Just that you have to consider yourself as a product at that point if time, Why should the customer buy you?- this is what the answer should be.
There are some ways in which you can make the answer to this question a very interesting one. The first one is to develop a sales statement. During an interview, the more detail you give, the better your answer will be. It is the time not to talk abut what you want, but to summarize what your accomplishments are. The next one would be Product inventory exercise. Basically the bottom line of this question is “ what can you do for this company”. The foremost thing is to start by analyzing the job description; what are the requirements for the job?, what will it take to get the job done? are some of the questions that you need to ask yourself before going for an interview. Always keep in mind some of the qualities you have that makes you unique. Take some precious time to think about what sets you apart from other candidates. The sales pitch is yet another step. From the list of requirements the company makes, match what you have to offer to them. his is your sales pitch. Make sure that it should be no more than two minutes long. Focus on your education, skills, interests, work experience, abilities etc. to differentiate you from the other job seekers.
"Because I'm the best person for this job. Here's why: I have all of the required qualifications that you are asking for in this job. The education, the experience, the industry experience. But I also bring a passion to the job that makes me the best person for the job. Why? Because that passion translates into results. I really love what I do. Let me give you an example…” this would be the best answer given by an experienced candidate. Like wise, for a fresh candidate, explaining the previous experience, preferably the internship experience and the achievements would be the best answer.
